The firmware behind awireless weapon-light remote.
HB Industries set out to cut the cable between a rifle-mounted light and its pressure-switch remote. Xari designed and built the firmware on both ends of the wireless link — and worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the hardware and mechanical team so the remote feels wired, without the wire.

The Role
We owned the firmware.
Xari led the firmware side of the product end to end — the code inside the tailcap that switches the light, the code inside the remote that talks to it, and the wireless link between them. We worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the hardware and mechanical team from the first schematic through board bring-up, so the result feels like one product, not two boards with a radio bolted on.
The Challenge
Replace a wire without anyone noticing.
A wired pressure switch has one job and does it instantly. Going wireless can't change that. The link had to be immediate, it had to hold up on a rifle in real conditions, and the two units had to find each other on their own after every power cycle — with the remote doing all of it on a single coin cell. And the light still had to work from its own switch, radio or no radio.

A wireless connection tuned for a wired feel — immediate response, and stable in the real world, not just on the bench.
Pair once, stay paired
The two units bond to each other, reconnect on their own after any power cycle, and ignore everyone else.
Months on a coin cell
Tiered power management that sleeps deep and wakes instantly — including wake-on-motion the moment the rifle is picked up.
Works with the physical switch
The light's own tailcap switch keeps working — on its own or alongside the remote — so nothing ever depends on the radio.
Hardware bring-up, together
Pin mapping, first power-on, and debugging on the real boards alongside the hardware and mechanical team — feeding what we learned straight back into the design.
The Product
Engineered to feel like one product.
The result is a weapon light that turns on when you press the remote — and that's all the user ever has to think about. The radio, the pairing, and the power management disappear into a tailcap that simply screws on.

The Hardware
Two small boards. One shared firmware.
Both units are built around the same Bluetooth Low Energy module, so a single firmware platform serves the whole system. The tailcap screws onto the light and switches it; the remote is one button in hand. Xari brought up both boards with the hardware and mechanical team, from first power-on to production.
